This Technology Spotlight explores how advanced sensor technologies from Badger Meter -- specifically, sensors measuring ammonia, nitrate and nitrite provide real-time, accurate data that enhances the nitrogen removal process, improves energy efficiency and helps operators comply with local treatment and discharge regulations.

Single and multiparameter, reagent-free sensors and monitoring stations provide data for proactive management throughout the wastewater treatment process. Participants will learn more about how advanced sensors and monitoring tools are designed to deliver continuous, reliable measurements specifically within the challenging environment typical of wastewater treatment plant operations. For example, a demonstration of dissolved oxygen (DO) sensors using optical methods to monitor oxygen levels; ammonium sensors that employ ion-selective electrode technology to track NH4-N concentrations and nitrate sensors utilizing UV-Vis spectrophotometry to measure NO3-N and TSS support effluent quality assurance.
